Lady Elliot Island is the actual living definition of natural beauty. Abundant with wildlife, entirely eco-centred and relatively off the grid. It is a destination rich with opportunities to connect with nature and truly unwind.

Lady Elliot Island Approach

Nestled at the southern tip of the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef, Lady Elliot Island is just a short flight from the mainland of Australia. Flying in you’re treated to a spectacular birds eye view of the 45-hectare island, surrounded by unspoilt coral reef. Located within the ‘Green Zone’ of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park (the highest possible classification designated by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority), its biodiversity is protected, allowing it to provide important breeding and nursery areas. The result is over 1,200 species of marine life enjoying the sanctuary of Lady Elliot Island’s shores and reefs.

From sunrise to sunset, days on the island are made to explore the coral cays alongside local sea life. Known as ‘home of the manta ray’, Lady Elliot Island is also teeming with turtles, sharks and tropical fish. At the right time of year you can even see whales. On any given day you are guaranteed interactions with at least a few of these guys. And with over 20 dive sites there’s plenty to keep busy. One of the beauties of so much diversity exisiting within such a condensed area, is the ability to move around the island in response to changing tides, weather and to make the most of the sun as it rises and sets.

Lady Elliot Island is a dream to visit and the ideal destination for those looking for somewhere to snorkel, dive and hone their ocean photography skills. Waking up to an epic sunrise each morning, spending the day immersed in what you love and falling asleep to the soothing sounds of the ocean crashing outside your bungalow. Perfection really.

We will be running a Lady Elliot Island Photography Workshop in 2022, so stay tuned for details or register your interest here to receive information once released. Numbers will be limited.
